Tongue Thrush

What is Tongue Thrush? This is a kind of fungal infection that usually occurs in the different mucous membranes of the body particularly in the tongue area. This kind of fungal infection is also known as tongue candidiasis, which is caused by the overgrowth of yeast from the fungus group that is known as Candida Albicans. The existence of the yeast in the body can cause a white lesion or a whitish covering on the inside layer of the mouth and tongue.

Yeast normally occurs in the different parts of the body most particularly in the mouth and tongue but usually it occurs in small numbers, however, if this yeast outgrow when it comes to number, there is a possibility that it can result to a Tongue Thrush. In a normal tongue flora, there is a very few yeast that are visible in the tongue, once this yeast increases in number, there is a big possibility that you can have a Tongue Thrush.
